Create your content template

In the first step, you created your reusable letterhead template.  Now you will create your content template.

The content template is the body of a document template without any header or footer information.   The content template can be in any Microsoft Word format; however, we recommend using DOCX vice DOTX formats just because they are easier to work with.  Both will work fine though.

  • Step 1 – Create a new word document and save it to your “Document Templates” library located at the top of every page in SharePoint to the left of your attorney initials.
  • Step 2 – Insert the content without any header or footer.   This content could be the body of an initial letter to a client, a good faith notice letter, or even the body of a Request for Admissions.
  • Step 3 – Insert Place Holders for SharePoint data.
    • Option A – Use the OnPoint Word Add-In
      • Select the Symbioshare Tab in Word
      • Select the Insert PlaceHolder button and select the source of your information
      • This will put a placeholder in the document that we call “Mustache Syntax”
    • Option B – Copy and paste the “Mustache Syntax” placeholder from the Mail Merge – Quick Reference document located in your Document Templates Library.
  • Step 4 – Modify the Mustache Syntax if you need to change capitalization
    • Example:  Client last name syntax is {client:Last}
    • To capitalize the first letter only, change to {client:Last:FirstLetterUpperCase}
    • To capitalize the entire last name, change to {client:Last:AllUpperCase}
  • Step 5 – Save your content template.

Where does Symbioshare get its data?

For matter data, the data comes directly from the associated Matter list.

Player data comes from the Agent list; however, the agents available are only those associated with a player for the matter you have selected.

The Doctors and Facilities available come either from the MedChrono List or from the Master List of all Doctors and Facilities.  You can change the source when inserting data.

The Clients available can also come from the Clients assigned to a matter or from the entire client master list.  This too is selectable from  the application.  NOTE: due to the large amount of data to download, it does take some time when you are pulling data form a Master List.
